Ms. Sri Vidhya Chelliah joined Gurdial Bakan Singh as a partner following the merger of her solo practise, Messrs. S.V.Chelliah & Associates, with the Firm in early 2006.

A partner at Gurdial Bakan Singh, Vidhya brings extensive experience in litigation at the Subordinate Court, High Court and Court of Appeal levels which includes strong skills in drafting, reviewing and vetting documents, and providing legal opinions.

She began her career at Messrs Ajmer Sandu & Ong, Penang following her admission to the Malaysian Bar in 1999. During her tenure there, she handled an extensive banking portfolio specialising in debt recovery matters including hire purchase matters, foreclosure proceedings, bankruptcy and insurance claims. Her scope of work involved extensive Court appearances particularly in the handling of trials in the Subordinate Court and High Court.

Vidhya moved on to specialist firm Messrs R.K. Nathan & Co., to concentrate on insurance work where she gained extensive experience particularly in motor vehicle accident matters, insurance claims and contractual disputes. Her role required an extensive travel schedule throughout Malaysia to conduct trials.

In 2002, to further hone her skills, Vidhya joined Aviva Insurance Berhad as their in-house counsel. Given her exposure in handling insurance claims, she was recruited to specifically handle bodily injury claims. She was responsible for amicable third-party claim settlements, and where relevant, solely responsible for managing the panel of solicitors handling litigation.
